The procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia, and it takes about one hour. Recovery is usually one week, as postop, the lips are quite swollen. This is a difficult problem.  Usually this is done with a wedge resection oriented vertically to reduce central volume combined with an intraoral transverse resection confined to the wet mucosa which also helps to roll the lip in.
