Buccal fat removal before or after weight loss?

Question

I'm 18 and my baby fat never left. I have chubby cheeks and a droop in the area next to my chin on both sides. Also a slight double chin. Freshamn year of highschool I lost some weight and it was noticeable on my face but minimal and after that it never progressed. Was that it? I plan on loosing more body fat but will anything change? If I get it now and still follow through with my journey, will my face sag or something? Should I loose as much as I can and see how I look then revisit the idea?

It's generally advisable to reach your goal weight before considering buccal fat removal. Weight loss can affect facial fat distribution, and you may notice more changes in your face as you continue your journey. Although buccal fat volume is no generally affected by weight change, the rest of the facial fat is reduced with marked weight loss potentially resulting in a gaunt or sagging appearance in the future.

I recommend focusing on your weight loss first, and then reassessing whether you still want the procedure once your weight is stable. This approach ensures you achieve balanced and long-lasting results.

Hello! I have never been disappointed with buccal fat removal on any of the patients I have performed it on.  This is one of my favorite operations and in your case you may want to combine it with micro liposuction under your chin, to decrease the double chin.  Depending on your exam, I actually think it’s technically easier to do the surgery when you are a bit heavier as there is more “stock” to work with.  Some of the best results are in people who have the surgery, and then lose weight.
