Thank you for your question. You should talk to your Dermatologist regarding your condition and proposed surgery, as any trauma can have an effect on your skin condition. That having been said, I have operated on several patients with stable Vitiligo and have not seen it get worse, with routine cosmetic procedures. You should find an experienced Board certified Plastic Surgeon who can examine you, discuss all your options and help you with all your concerns. All the best!
Dear jljones2787,it is hard to predict whether your mommy makeover will have a negative effect on your vitiligo. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately there is no way to predict how vitiligo will respond to an "injury" such as that with a mommy makeover. It would have to be a discussion with your surgeon and dermatologist but in most cases vitiligo spreads slowly, and continuously, with time, and surgery can exacerbate it.
Hello, thank you for your question. I am sorry you have vitiligo, it is as you probably know, usually an autoimmune disease, It is hard to predict its spread. You should first talk to your treating dermatologist about any concerns he/she may have about the interaction of your vitiligo with your surgery.
It is possible that surgical trauma may worsen and cause spreading of vitiligo. It is impossible to predict it but that possibility needs to be discussed both with your dermatologist and plastic surgeon. Good luck.
I am unaware that there is accurate way to predict this. Suffice it to say that the possibility of making it worse exists and discussing you plans with you dermatologist or the physician treating you condition would be wise prior to any surgery.Best of luck.
I appreciate your concerns and it is difficult to predict if your vitiligo will be affected by pending mommy makeover surgery. The stress from surgery can possibly increase chances of worsening your condition.I recommend that you consult with your medical doctor treating the vitiligo and ask for a mutual consultation with your board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
It is difficult to predict how the trauma from surgery will impact the progression of your vitiligo. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with both your treating dermatologist as well as your plastic surgeon.
Hi and thank you for your question! It is difficult to predict how each person will react to surgery. My recommendation would be to first consult your dermatologist. Only after you have their approval would I suggest moving forward with a mommy makeoverRespectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACSRealself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Hello and thank you for your question . As long as you can get medical clearance from your physician treating the MS you most likely can. I don't know what type of medicine you may be taking for the MS, that also would be a consideration as well.
