Question

I had gotten four moles removed on July 19, one being on my nose. The ones on my body turned a light pink shade that I don’t mind but the sight on the nose turned dark and brown. I don’t know what to do it feels as if the mole is still there since it’s so dark

I recommend following up with your cosmetic dermatologist about your concerns and after care recommendations. I recommend Silagen + Bioshield to promote healing. Any scarring can be improved with lasers and microneedling/prp. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi, clearly the mole was removed via shave biopsy. Hopefully, the sample was sent to pathology and was determined to be "benign". Many time you will experience post operative hyper-pigmentation as a side effect of the biopsy. In this case, in order to get all the dark pigmentation removed, you will need a full "excisional" biopsy to remove all of the nevus cells. This could lead to scarring, but with a solid scar reduction plan, much of that can be avoided. Good Luck, Dr Eric Shreder

You are demonstrating brown discoloration that is caused by the remainder of the deeper aspect of the mole that is not amenable for removal when you have a shave biopsy. The other moles were more superficial and thus were likely entirely removed because you can be more aggressive with your shave on the body in contrast to the face.
