How long should I wait to get a chemical peel TCA 35%, after having a facelift?

Since you still have numbness on sides of face, I would suggest a safer way for your skin tissue and wait at least one more month. If you had the chemical peel procedure before and did not have a sensitivity issue, I would say after one month is a good call. However, if this is your first time having it and you would want to make sure your condition is fully healed, you could wait 2 months.

Hello, and thanks for your question. It is typically recommended that you wait at least 6 weeks or more after having a facelift to have other treatments such as a TCA chemical peel. This allows your face and skin to properly heal and recover from the trauma of the surgery. Since you would be just about at that mark for the date you have your peel scheduled, it may be possible for you to have the additional treatment. However, the best way for you to know for sure whether it is safe to have done is by scheduling an evaluation with your plastic surgeon so they may assess your recovery and determine if you are healed enough to partake in other treatments.

You should plan on waiting until you have fully recovered from your facelift and the blood supply to your facial skin has stabilized before moving forward with your chemical peel. Your current appointment date is likely too soon and may need to be pushed back some time to ensure you can safely undergo the treatment without damaging your results. Please follow up with your board-certified plastic surgeon before proceeding with any additional treatments. He or she knows what type of facelift was performed and will be able to determine if and when you are far enough along in your recovery to schedule your chemical peel. Hope this helps!

As long as you are well healed from the facelift you can proceed.  Numbness after a facelift can persist for a few months but you do not necessarily need to wait this long.  3-4 weeks is about right. 

I often will do a peel or laser resurfacing at the same time as facelift surgery.  I generally limit the peel or laser to the central face, perioral and periorbital areas.  As I do. a deep plane  facelift  the flap is thick and patients can tolerate the procedures at the same time. 

I often perform 35% TCA peels at the time of a facelift.  These peels are usually done in areas that are nor undermined in a facelift.  I like to wait about 6 weeks after a facelift to perform any chemical peels.  Thank you for your question.

    First of all thanks for your question, as a triple board certified facial plastic surgeon, the best thing to do is to apply chemical peeling while face lifting. However, if your doctor did not choose a combine surgery  or you have just made this decision, I recommend that you may wait for a minimum of 4 weeks. If your skin is too thin, you can wait up to 6 weeks, but if you have thick skin, it is not a problem to apply it 4 weeks later.

 

 

Hi sxylexy.  Obviously your plastic surgeon is the best judge of whether you can proceed at 3 weeks based upon his/her technique and extent of dissection, but generally speaking if I do not do the peel at the time of the original surgery, I wait a minimum of 6 weeks.  The numbness is normal this early out of surgery.  Share your concerns with your PS-he/she wants the best possible outcome too!
