Hello, I've posted before about asymmetry that I had on my nasal bridge after rhino. This has corrected itself but now I'm wondering if these harsh lines on either side of my nose tip will soften up or is this permanent and due to the rib graft that they used? I still have a lot of swelling in my tip, 5 months post up this month.
Answer: Tip Hi A. liz! It's hard to know for sure if this will soften up because I don't know what was done to you. The way the nose looks now is that it appears as if your lateral crura were potentially truncated or cut in some way that it is giving this sort of pinched appearance, but I don't know for sure. If that was done, then it is unlikely to improve. I would definitely consult with your surgeon who knows best!

Answer: 5 months post-op swelling Hello and thank you for your question. At five months, your tip is still very swollen. It is difficult to predict exactly what will happen, as it is very dependent on the techniques used by your surgeon. The final results take at least 1.5 years for the swelling to fully resolve. This can require lots of patience and waiting. Steroid injections performed by your surgeon can be extremely helpful. I usually start steroid injections around 1 to 2 months after surgery and continue as needed. I recommend that you maintain close follow up with your surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Healing after rhinoplasty Short answer: Please ask your surgeon. Only she or he knows what was done and what changes are expected. After 5 months changes will still occur but much less than within the first month. At this time, all swelling subsided but the nasal skin will continue to contract. Best wishes, Thomas Walker, MD, FACS 470-900-3223

Answer: When you're swelling is resolved, you may consider a permanent non-surgical nose job. We do not advise injectable filler treatments while your nose is still very swollen and firm after surgery. These creases above each nostril may not resolve on their own as swelling resolves. If this is something that is bothersome to you, depending on your examination, microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections maybe considered for permanently filling these in. I hope this helps and thank you for your question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Early result after rhinoplasty It is very likely that you still have significant swelling in particular in tip. It take an average of 12 months, sometimes longer for swelling to disappear. Good luck.
