Eye mucus after rhinoplasty

Question

I recieved a rhinoplasty years ago to correct a deviated septum and ever since…every time I blow my nose mucus comes out of my left eye. I asked the dr about this in a follow up appointment and he said it was normal. Wondering if it’s actually normal for this to be happening - or if it’s something to be concerned about.

There is a natural conduit called the nasolacrimal duct that brings tears from the eye into the nose. It is not worrisome to have nasal secretions move from the nose upward into the eye have to rhinoplasty surgery with septoplasty. Hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

There is a connection between the eyelid tear duct and the nose but fluid is only supposed to flow one way. Not a bad idea to consult with an ophthalmologist to see if it needs to be addressed at all
