When should I stop bromelain before surgery?

So I was directed to start taking Bromelain 3 days prior to surgery so of course I'm 53 years old and have concerns of doing everything on my end to have a surgery with as least complications as possible my blood work came back normal , but I read up on Bromelain and it says to stop this two weeks prior to surgery what is safe for me and should I start slow fe iron supplement?

Bromelain  and arnica have been shown to decrease the length of time for post operative bruising. Both have anti-inflammatory properties. If you have gastric problems, heart disease, or an allergy to pineapple, you should not take Bromelain. Many of my patients comment on the improvement in bruising resolving after taking these supplements.  Refer to the link supplied.

There is no evidence  that bromelain will in any way make the surgery better so we never use it. There is no need for iron supplements if your serum iron level and your blood count are normal and you are otherwise healthy and eat a fairly normal diet. Modern surgery has such a very small amount of blood loss that iron is not necessary in that case either. All that having been said, once you choose a surgeon it is important that you follow that doctors advice or find another doctor that you trust.
