I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial contouring expert to go over your desired results in order to determine how much filler is needed. Usually, we start with one syringe split between upper and lower. These fillers, (Restylane, Volbella, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical and full lip. Usually, a full syringe is necessary to contour the lips. Balance and harmony of both the upper and lower lips is important. A complete exam is necessary to determine where the contour requires improvement.  Best to neither under or over fill the lips. The lips should appear natural after the procedure.  

With lip injections I think that 0.5cc of Juvederm is a reasonable place to start. You can always add more later. I am conservative with lip injections because too much can produce an unnatural look. Remember that aesthetic ideals in a caucasian woman favour a taller lower lip compared to the upper lip and to maintain this relationship you will need to address the lower lip too. Make sure you see an expert.  All the best,

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  If you are planning on splitting the half syringe between both your upper and lower lip then you will likely not see a significant change in your overall lip volume or definition.  I would recommend starting with an average of a half syringe in your lower lip and a half syringe in your upper lip and allowing your results to mature over 2 weeks.  If that does not help you reach your goals, then have additional filler placed to incrementally improve your lip contour and size.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. If your plan is to have half a syringe used between both your upper and lower lid you will not see a remarkable change in volume. I would use half a syringe in the bottom lip and half in the upper lip. Remember it takes 2 weeks for all swelling to resolve and to see your final results. After this you can add additional filler if you want. Best of Luck!

Your lips appear proportionate together and in proportion to your face, If I were you, I would be very concerned about the lips being too full for your face with any amount of filler.  I would recommend laser or IPL treatment of the brown spots on your lips, that distract from the great structure and fullness of your lips, rather than add a filler.  This is my personal opinion. If you think fuller lips will be more attractive for your face, I would recommend Restylane Silk because the results are more subtle and it is easier to reverse if you end up not liking the result. Restyle Silk comes as 1 cc syringe only. If you like the result you can have maintenance treatments with Juvederm Volbella, which can last upto a year and provides more subtle enhancement that Juvederm Ultra. Juvederm Volbella is available as 0.55 cc syringe only.

Dear sol11:Looking at you photo, I would recommend starting off with 1 syringe of Juvederm.  Remember for natural looking enhanced lips, please keep the lips in proportion to themselves and your face.  All the best.

I am not sure what you are going to do with the other half but from the appearances, it seems like you should be fine with about 0.5 ml of product (1/2 a syringe).The companies dont sell 1/2 syringes so you may want to inquire where it came from. The exception is that Volbella comes in a 0.6 mL syringe so it is about the size of 1/2 a Juvederm syringe.

Thank you for your question, it's a very, and question... and a little difficult to answer .Obviously, the more products that you use, than more significant the results will be. For most of my patients, one syringe is a sufficient amount to achieve a nice result.  It is quite possible to get excellent but but subtle and noticeable results that looked very natural with a full syringe, even with your naturally nice lips. The most important thing is to seek out an expert with extensive experience in lip injections to make sure that you get natural looking results. He or she should be able to show you plenty of before and after pictures. This may help give you an idea of how much improvement he can expect from a given volume of products.  best wishes and good luck, MKB
