Should juvederm be put more in lips or around outside?

In my practice, I like to use the microcannula technique for lip filler, which minimizes risk of swelling and essentially eliminates bruising. Juvederm can also be used to fill the vertical lines around the mouth. This procedure usually requires injecting filler into each individual line with a needle to prop up the wrinkles, resulting in rejuvenated, younger looking skin. It depends on if someone is looking for more fullness (in body of the lips) or is looking to improve more symmetry (in the border of the lip). These fillers, (Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical and full lip. If they want to define the lips and fix any asymmetries then filler can be placed in the border of the lips. Filler is typically only places outside of the lips to correct for fine lines and wrinkles.
