Is it possible that the tummy tuck scar moves downward after swelling is gone? (photo)

Unfortunately, abdominoplasty scars will not move downward after resolution of swelling. The scar position is decided during surgery. You would need more skin above your incision in order to be stretched down to the bikini area. Without seeing your preoperative photos, it is difficult to say whether your scar can be planned to be lower on your abdomen.

Hello!  Thank you for your question!  As swelling resolves and everything settles, it is common to your incision to settle into its marked position.  Although they will not descend a tremendous amount, they will settle to a slightly lower position.  Preoperative markings are important and should have been placed within your panty line.  If, after an appropriate time for healing, your scars are not at an acceptable position, it may be possible to revise the scars and lower them, if enough laxity is available below this area.  Hope that this helps!  Best wishes!

Preoperative marking demonstrates to the patient where the resulting scar will be. If the scars too high after healing is complete it can only be repositioned by a surgical revision.

Unfortunately it is unlikely that your scar position will change much. If anything, the scar will sometimes move slightly upward due to the upward tension on the incision.

Swelling does not affect the position of your scar.  Also you don't seem to have much of a swelling so I would not expect to see much change in your scar position

Hello and thanks for sending the picture.  Although an examination would be ideal to answer this question, it appears your scar is a bit higher placed than the bikini line.  Only time to heal will reveal the final position.  Waiting a good six months will be necessary to see this result.  

Hello, The incision position for an abdominoplasty usually does not change very much with time as far as position is concerned. Your shape and contour appears to be quite good at your early stage of healing. The incision is usually placed in the lower normal abdominal crease, and varying that position can produce  an un-natural look

Discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Scar position can be affected by the planning and marking of the incisions, how loose (or tight) the tissues are, and the cuts needed to remove "dog ears" when the wounds are being closed, and the placement of the incisions in the skin lines to allow for the best scar healing. Your surgeon can go over all the factors that went into the location of the scars.While scars don't tend to drop, they do tend to improve with time.All the best for a good recovery.
