Hello! I'm Landry, an esthetician at Aesthetic Skin and here are my concerns on the subject:Since Accutane causes the skin to thin and therefore become easily susceptible to tearing and damage, I'd recommend against getting treatments such as HydraFacial. Even traditional facial massages are discouraged due to skin fragility. However, after at least 6 months of discontinued use of Isotrentinoin is when the option of receiving a HydraFacial is considered safe.
It is recommended to wait at least 6 months after discontinuing Accutane before receiving a Hydrafacial. Accutane causes sensitivity to the skin, the suction from Hydrafacial may be too intense for someone on Accutane. It is best to wait 6 months before a Hydrafacial treatment.
Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. . It is advised that you take six months Off of Accutane before doing any treatment to your skin that involves any kind of acid peel or suction. The reason for this is that the Accutane will greatly thin your skin. Performing anything even remotely considered aggressive while on Accutane, can lead to scarring and more skin problems. In our practice, our paramedical aesthetician custom tailors a variety of facial treatments for people that are undergoing Accutane therapies. This way they can continue with their Accutane, and still receive beneficial treatments in the treatment room.
I would not recommend getting any facial treatments while on Accutane. You can severely damage the skin doing this. Wait at least 6 months after you are off of Accutane to resume treatments of any sort to the skin.
