Bruising, swelling and soreness is very common after filler injections. Give yourself at least 2 weeks for to heal so you can see your final result. I also suggest you make a follow up appointment with your injector to ensure everything is healing wellKenneth Hughes MD 

Thank you for your question about swelling after filler injections.  It is normal to have swelling and moderate pain after filler injections.  Typically the pain and swelling will subside in 2-3 days.  If pain is severe and worsens rather than improves you should contact your injector.  Also, if there is any skin color change outside of the area of injection, or if you note blanching (skin whiter than normal), skin mottling (skin with blotches of white and pink/purple/blue), blisters, or ulcerations of the area you need to contact your injector immediately.  Rarely you can have vascular events that need to be addressed ASAP.  


To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.

Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling, bruising and some minor pain which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve and see your final results. You can ice the treated area to help reduce any bruising and swelling. If you notice your pain getting worse please follow up with your injector for an evaluation. Best of Luck!

Pain with lip injection is the norm and it should subside in a few days.  There are a number of different types of Resytlane and it depends on the type as to how much pain and swelling could occur. give it a week and then see what happens

Lips can swell quite a bit with any HA product but you should not have tremendous pain. I do not think Restylne L usually swells and more than Juvederm but your body is not the same all the time either. However, Restylane Silk seems to cause a lot more early swelling, ESPECIALLY IF ICE APPLIED. If you had Silk do not apply ice. Your lips should go down quite a bit while you are upright and awake if they swelled over night. If they do not, call your doctor just to be sure 

Swelling is not uncommon after lip augmentation and swelling can cause pain and discomfort. If you feel your symptoms are persistent or not improving, I recommend seeing your Physician

It is not uncommon to experience swelling and pain shortly after lip augmentation treatment with fillers. Typically such swelling will resolve within 1 week in most patients. Swelling can be associated with any hyaluronic acid filler injection, including Juvederm and Restylane. You can try icing your lips to try to reduce swelling, but if it persists for over 1 week you should see your injector for another consultation.
