Is it possible that filler made the tear trough area look worse? (Photo)

Question

Hello. I am a 28 y/o female. I've had small amounts of filler Revanesse (I think) injected in the tear trough area. The filler worked. However, I could still see fine lines around the eyes. The lines were so long that they went from the inner corner of my eye to the cheek. I recently saw a different injector and she injected more filler using a cannula. Unfortunately, I now see the line around my eye much more pronounced. I'm not sure if this is a side effect of having too much filler? What can I do?

It seems that there are several patients with Revanesse filler (Versa) complications on the eyelids on realself. This is concerning and may have to be investigated further as there is a possibility that this filler may have a higher complication profile based on the experiences of these patients on this forum. Opt for Restylane or Belotero on these areas.

You are young with good looking eyes. Fillers can cause issues though I think in his case you are likely just having some edema. Radiesse is not my favorite product for the eyes but everybody has their own techniques. Hope this helps Best of luck DrC

I would recommend just waiting and giving the products time to settle and eventually dissolve.  You are very young and have good supporting tissue around the eye area, so I would be careful to not do too many procedures to alter your appearance just yet.  We in dermatology recommend a good quality sunscreen, sunglasses always when outside, minimize bad habits such as smoking and rubbing the eyes vigorously, and general good nutrition and exercise.  Trying to eliminate every line on the face is unrealistic and may make you more unhappy in the long run with the overall appearance if it is unnatural.  You appear to have very beautiful eyes, so keep up the good work with your general good health, and best of luck!

This is a common problem with filler under the eye.  The filler can take on water and expand, creating an unnatural bump.  Some of it can be easily dissolved which should fix the problem.  Alternatives would be using fat instead of filler and lasering the under-eye to tighten the skin.

Tear trough is probably the most challenging area to treat.  The skin there is so thin and the inferior fat lobules sometime may help or make things worst.  For you case it actually doesn't look bad at all, no worries, Revanesse Versa is also hyaluronic acid so it will eventually resorb by the body in 6-9 months.  So each and every month that line will disappear a little.  Keep on massaging that line in a circular motion.
