How long does it take to totally heal and breath better from a deviated septum surgery?

Two days after surgery i noticed one of the splinters inside my nose was crooked, i went to see the doctor again 6 days after surgery so he could remove the splinters, I told him my splinter was crooked and he said it was fine, its been 2 weeks exactly today since i had surgery and i still feel my nose clogged, its that normal, how long does it take for me to feel the difference?

Thank you for your question. Septoplasty recovery varies from person to person, but most begin breathing easier and feeling better within about two weeks. That said, it may be taking a bit longer for the swelling inside your nose to subside, which would explain the clogged feeling and the continued difficulty breathing. I would recommend giving yourself a bit more time to recuperate and I suspect you will start to see improvement very soon. However, if you have concerns, it is best to consult with your surgeon directly in case an in-person examination is necessary. Best wishes on your recovery!

Thanks for your question. Generally speaking the results of a septoplasty should be apparent once the splints or whatever else from inside the nose is removed. Hope this helps clarify
