I appreciate your question and your concern. While the chemicals used in your work are strong, they are not likely to affect the outcome of your sinus surgery. However, if you notice ongoing issues after you recovery fully from your procedure, talk to your otolaryngologist about whether you might need a steroid spray for the nose to counter some of the effects of the color formulations. Nasal rinses are another option for keeping the nasal passages clear. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your otolaryngologist that performed your surgery to find out if there are any other recommendations you should follow to ensure your safety while on the job. Thanks for your question and I understand your worry. Let me reassure you that drainage from the nose may continue for a few weeks after sinus surgery. If you have not developed new symptoms, such as bleeding, swelling or pain, it is likely this side effect is completely normal. Nasal rinses at least twice a day should help to reduce that symptom faster.That said, I would encourage you to contact your otolaryngologist to discuss your concerns and determine whether you should come in for an in-person examination just to reassure yourself and your physician there are no complications arising. While it is impossible to diagnose you without an in-person consultation and a thorough examination, it does sound like your symptoms could be treatable through a variety of surgical and nonsurgical options. I recommend you make an appointment with a board-certified otolaryngologist that is specifically trained to address sinus-related issues. While the large majority of patients are able to return to their daily routine within 48 hours without significant discomfort, that is not the case for every patient. However, if you are experiencing substantial pressure and fatigue one week after your procedure, I recommend you contact your physician for an in-person assessment to ensure no complications have developed.
