Hullo! Well, I'm thinking about a mentoplasty but I'm not sure whether a chin implant would work on me or not because of my deep mentolabial fold... Should I lengthen my chin, I think it's not as "tall" as ideal.
Answer: Sliding genioplasty or chin implant Based on the single photo, you are a candidate for either procedure. Your facial height looks normal and I don't think that you have a deep mentolabial fold. When the chin is advanced by either method it does tend to provide a taller appearance when viewed from the front. Both these procedures are performed in my office under intravenous sedation and takes about an hour.

Answer: Genioplasty vs Chin implant? Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation #weakchin #chinimplant

Answer: Chin Augmentation Any form of pure horizontal chin augmentation will make the labiomental fold deeper, regardless of whether it is an implant or a sliding genioplasty. Bringing the chin forward and down (vertically lengthening) will help diminish any significant labiomental fold deepening.

Answer: Sliding genioplasty v chin implant A sliding genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with at least one night stay at the hospital. A chin implant procedures performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes approximately 30 minutes.
