Extended TT, week 8 and I still look like a before picture?

Hello,Thank you for your question and photos. Swelling is commonly still present at 8 weeks post Abdominoplasty- as well, additional weight loss may help reduce the prominence of your abdomen. I recommend that you wait until closer to 6 months post op before evaluating your results, and then discuss any next steps with your Plastic Surgeon.All the best

Thank you for sharing your story, star seraph. Early on in my career, I would probably take a guess that several of my patients experienced your same frustrations. And that mainly was due to not outlining the surgical limits and expectations. Your history is complex and certainly the previous pancreatectomy does put you at higher risk with having a secondary abdominal procedure. Plastic surgery, in this case, a tummy tuck, is not a substitute for weight loss.In my professional opinion, most patients with a BMI higher than 30, are not candidates for TT or liposuction. I recommend my patients to get to a healthier BMI, before considering a cosmetic, elective procedure in order to obtain a better result with minimal chances of complication.Patients that can not reduce their BMI, should consider bariatric surgery.You had an adequate result, but appears that you expected more from it, you should talk to your surgeon and see what he/she recommends.

Your surgeon may have been limited in what could safely be done due to your previous abdominal surgery.  Discuss with your surgeon to see if additional treatment such as liposuction and additional skin excision could be done in the future after all healing is complete to enhance your result.  Good luck.  Donald R.
