South Asian and ethnic skin can be tricky to treat especially on the face. Given that it is skin type V, I prefer to use the Yag laser which is safer. The diode laser can also be utilized but with greater care since it is 810 nm as opposed to 1064 for Yag. Shorter wavelength means greater absorption and better results but greater risk. The hand piece for the sharp light for hair removal is not a true laser. It uses dynamic pulse control and has various different wavelengths in the 600 to 700 nm. This may be a variant of IPL with filters to obtain a specific wavelength. Need to be careful as lower wavelength can mean better result but also higher risk. In addition, results also depend on the type of facial hair you have. Finer hair does not respond as well and in our practice we advise our clients they may not see a significant improvement. All the bestDr Soni
