Ammonia for disinfecting Laser Hair Removal device?

I am getting bikini laser hair removal and I m concerned about the sterilization of the hand piece. My Laser nurse says she uses ammonia in between patients. Will Ammonia kill a virus such as Herpes or HPV? I am very concerned about this and there doesn't seem to be sufficient information online.
