Thank you cerbiatto8 for your question. Yes you may have filler done while on coumadin. You may have some additional bruising and or swelling because of the medication. As long as you are okay with that then go for it. Best of luck to you.
I have treated many patients who are on anticoagulants, with fillers with the approval of their treating physicians. For those who take coumadin, we ensure that a recent blood test (INR) is checked and that the level of blood thinning is reasonable and not too high, before we do the injections of Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Belotero and others. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Yes, you can be treated with fillers to your face. However, coumadin is an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) that may cause more bleeding and bruising to the treated area. To minimize bleeding and bruising you can take Arnica Montana about three days before and a couple days after treatment.
Yes, you may have treatments such as Botox and fillers and you are/will be at a higher risk of having bruising than someone not on these medications. Sincerely,Dr. Benjamin J Cousins MD Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Miami/Miami Beach FL
There is no contraindication with fillers and blood thinners. However, keep in mind that you will be at higher risk for bruising with the procedure. Bruises are common with dermal fillers and will resolve within days to two weeks. Cheers!
You can still enjoy the benefits of Botox and fillers if you are taking blood thinning medications. You will have a higher chance of bruising from these treatments. Be sure to tell you injector about all medications and supplements that you take prior to treatment. I recommend seeing an expert injector.
You can get fillers done while you are on Coumadin. You may have more bruising though. The good news is that if you bruise, you will be making more collagen which is an upside.
Yes, absolutely. I have many patients on blood thinners who undergo procedures such as fillers. Be sure to share the information with your physician and realize you may be more likely to have bruising but otherwise you should do fine.Best wishes.
I have many patients who are on Coumadin and other blood thinners. The problem with being on the blood thinners is bruising. As long as you accept that you will bruise from the fillers then there is no contraindication to you having these fillers. Please consult an expert for the best cosmetic results. Best, Dr. Green
You can most definitely receive fillers while on coumadin. You must however tell your treating physician about it in advance and be prepared for some possible bruising afterwards. It is also advisable that the physician use a cannula rather than a needle for the treatment. Good luck from New York City
Sorry to hear that you’re having this complication… While infrequent, it is one of the more common complications from Botox. Fortunately, as mentioned above, there is an eyedrop which can be of help for reducing the amount of drooping. The eyedrop is called Iodipine and is a...
Profhilo is new, not much experience but fillers in general do not interfere with Botox/Dysport injections as they target completely different things. I would recommend waiting perhaps 10-14 days between the treatments just top let any swelling or bruising subside.
There is a decent amount of swelling after the Botox injection and this is not common in my experience. I would followup with your injector in person. This may represent an allergic response to the dilutent used to reconstitute the Botox or the Botox itself although the latter is rare.
