Can the results of my rhinoplasty be affected after being slapped in the nose?

Two issues presented here. #1. Why are you allowing this event to keep reoccurring? Are you looking to have revision surgery?#2. The chances are you should return to see your chosen operative surgeon for examination of your nose. 

Nasal trauma early in the post recovery phase after rhinoplasty can definitely affect your outcome. I realize it must be difficult to predict when your 2 year old is going to hit your face but if you can minimize as much trauma to your face as possible in this period that would be ideal. If you are concerned about the bump the last slap caused. The frequent slaps to your face can cause increased swelling and possible change any grafting your surgeon did. I would visit your rhinoplasty surgeon to have your nose evaluated.

Thank you for your question.  Trauma in the early stages of recovery can cause changes to the newly reconstructed nose.  A lot has to do with what was done and how hard you were hit.  I would suggest that you make an appointment with your plastic surgeon asap so that he may examine your nose and determine if there is anything that needs to done.

Hello, and thanks for your question. I’m sorry this has happened to you. In the early post op period (the first six weeks or so),  it is possible that trauma to the nose can  disrupt or alter the healing of what was done in a rhinoplasty. It depends on the mechanism and force of the injury, what was done in the rhinoplasty, and how much healing has occurred. I would advise you to see your surgeon about this.  Remember, even after you’re completely healed, significant trauma to the nose still can result in nasal fractures and other injuries.
