I recently had a septorhinoplasty done with Dr. Chu and I cannot recommend her more! In the lead up to the surgery, she was incredibly responsive to all of my questions and made sure that I felt comfortable with the procedure. The surgery itself went perfectly, I barely swole or bruised. Within two weeks, I was back at work and feeling good. I am so happy to finally be able to breathe and my nose looks great. Dr. Chu really listened to my description of what an ideal nose would look like and gave me a very natural looking nose that suits my face. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. If you’re looking for an ENT in the DC area, definitely consider booking a consultation with Dr. Chu.
Dr. Gina Chu is "Simply the Best." She fitted me into her tight schedule within 1 week for both a first visit and surgery at Georgetown University Hospital for my broken nose. Upon my first visit to her office in McLean, VA, I knew she and her team were the best by their punctuality, efficiency, elegance and thorough diagnosis. Dr. Chu or her excellent "patient navigator" Gretta Buckley followed up with me with 10mn of a call or email. WDr. Chu's reputation precedes her:W She had the A Team of nurses and anesthiliogists; when you mention her name at GU Hospital, everyone from admin to surgery quietly affirms "Dr. Chu is the Best." On my first post-surgery appointment with her her, she explained how she re-set my broken nose in 4 fractures: touchy feely. She used an instrument and manually readjusted my nose by feeling it and touching it! She is a surgeon for structural nose issues, as well as cosmetic/aesthetic. She can "see and feel by touch" during surgery how your nose should be re-set. She also is trained in plastic surgery aesthetics such as micro-needling for any minor gaps/skin abrasion and for botox and fillers such as Juverdem. Look no further than Dr. Gina Chu and her team, including Gretta Buckley. "Simply the Best."
I was so fortunate. After an accident, I was referred to the ENT clinic and was assigned to Dr. Chu. In the 12 years that I have lived in DC, it was the best, most excellent medical experience ever. She is competent, caring and assuring. She went out of her way to schedule surgery for me on a day that she does not usually perform surgery - like the next day. My follow up-care has been beyond expectations. Her scheduling person, Allison, was very accommodating. Her nurse, Jamie, called three pharmacies in order to locate to fill my prescription, and that was in the last hour prior to a 3 day holiday weekend
My experience with Dr. Chu was wonderful. From my first visit with her, to my surgery date and follow up, she was great. I felt like she cared about the issues I was having and was confident the surgery would help my deviated septum. The only piece I was skeptical about was the modernity of the hospital itself. It’s outdated and needs updates, but I remained confident in Dr. Chu and her abilities. I’m so glad I did. The surgery was seamless, Dr. Chu and her team checked on me in recovery several times and I simply had a great experience. I would recommend anyone I know to see her. She will listen to you and take care of you like you’re family or a friend.
Amazing!! Dr. Chu cares very much about her patients, it isn't just a job to her. She takes pride in her work. I had a huge ball of scar tissue on my lip from a sports injury, she took time with me and understood how important it was to look like I did before. She made that happen. I am so grateful to her.
I couldn’t have asked for a better accomplice to undergo an invasive procedure with a lengthy recovery. She treated me with total dignity and respect from the very beginning of the consultation to the post op. She took the time to explain all of the options available and made herself available to answer dozens and dozens of questions. She also gave a great suggestion for a second opinion before confirming the surgery. I am beyond pleased with the outcome of the three surgeries and she made the recovery much more bearable than expected by making herself available for phone call follow-ups and taking steps during the procedure to reduce severe swelling/painful recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Chu. She will treat you like a friend.
I met with two surgeons (one at GWU Hospital, one at Georgetown University Hospital) about a Septoplasty to help me breath better. After both meetings, easily decided to go with with Dr Chu. I had a million questions which Dr. Chu spent the time to answer all of them fully, and why she was making that decision. Aside from surgery starting a couple hours later than planned, the day of process was extremely streamlined. Recovery was better than expected. The Patient Navigator, Alison, is extremely responsive and easy to get ahold of, which made coordination and insurance extremely easy. Hadn't seen a set up like that coming from the military, but I am a huge fan.
Dr. Chu was amazing to work with! She’s competent, easy going, and strives to make the best experience for her patients. I broke my nose playing sports this year. I was able to see her expediently, and the results were wonderful. Would highly recommend her as a doctor and as an amazing human being!!
Dr. Chu did fantastic work with my rhinoplasty—the result achieves everything I wanted and looks very natural. There are numerous top plastic surgeons to choose from in DC, and ultimately, Dr. Chu was the best choice for me. She specializes in rhinoplasty, she’s extremely knowledgeable, and her prowess in surgery easily matches or exceeds other top doctors in this area. What I appreciated most about Dr. Chu is that she didn’t rush during the procedure. She’s honest, thoughtful, confident, and I trust her judgement 100%. Dr. Chu’s staff was extremely supportive before and after the surgery – overall it was an exceptional experience. You cannot go wrong with this team.
I had a very positive experience with Dr. Chu. I appreciated the friendliness and professionalism of Dr. Chu and her entire staff. Even though I did not know much about PRP treatment, I was willing to give it a try. I noticed significant improvements after a couple of treatments.
Unfortunately PRP is not a permanent treatment that will "cure" hair loss. It can definitely improve early hair loss over time; however it is a treatment that needs to be continued at least at a maintenance level to sustain results. Usually after 4-6 treatments and you can start spacing out treatments to potentially a couple times a year. However patient results can vary and some patients may need maintenance treatments at shorter intervals than others.
Yes, PRP for hair loss really does work. However it is important to know it doesn't work overnight. It takes time to improve hair follicle and density. I recommend at least 4-6 treatments at once a month to improve early hair loss.
I would say diffuse hair loss after PRP would be rare. Did you have any other changes in your lifestyle? Change in your diet or weight loss? Most of my patients report a decrease in hair shedding after PRP treatments.
Nasal trauma early in the post recovery phase after rhinoplasty can definitely affect your outcome. I realize it must be difficult to predict when your 2 year old is going to hit your face but if you can minimize as much trauma to your face as possible in this period that would be ideal. If you are concerned about the bump the last slap caused. The frequent slaps to your face can cause increased swelling and possible change any grafting your surgeon did. I would visit your rhinoplasty surgeon to have your nose evaluated.
I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon. In general, nonsurgical rhinoplasty uses filler to make changes to the nose. This would include smoothing out a profile (making a nasal hump look less conspicuous) or making small changes to the nasal tip contour. In general though with filler you are building up the nose as opposed to taking anything away. You have to keep that in mind...you can't make a large nose smaller with a nonsurgical rhinoplasty. Make sure to discuss your concerns and changes you'd like to make with your nose to your surgeon to see if you would be a candidate. Hope this helps!
