Can a rhinoplasty cause excess scleral show? (photos)

Frankly, it's difficult to tell from your photographs whether you have scleral show or not. The best way to tell is to look straight at the camera. Based on the photos that you posted, you appear to being looking up slightly, and that would increase scleral show on anybody. Additionally, a dissolving enzyme injected into your nose should not lead to scleral show either. Thank you for your question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

thank you for sharing your pictures. A rhinoplasty does not result in scleral show of your lower eyelids. Head tilt, head position can influence the perception of scleral show. Causes for scleral show can differ, but a rhinoplasty is not one of them. I hope this helps.

Hello and thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty should not affect scleral show at all. The only way it could is through postoperative swelling. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Societal show depends in large part on head position. With your head tilted down you will have sclera show as in the photos. This is normal

This condition is often associated with the lower eyelids.
It also is highly related to what your visual gaze is in.
Typically rhinoplasty surgery should not affect the function of your lower eyelid.
To assess changes we need to see quality pictures overtime and this is very difficult because the visual gaze needs to be at exactly the same angle.
I’m not sure you’ll be able to get an answer to your question.
An oculoplastic surgeon may be the most appropriate to provider if this bothers you enough to have intervention.Best,
