Hi! I had implants with a lift almost 2 years ago. I regretted it soon after and have not felt comfortable in my skin since. I started as a 36A and am now a C. I am working up the courage to remove them. I want to wait until I am 100 percent ready but have heard some women get concave rib cages from the weight of the implants. At what point does this happen? I can’t risk a messed up rib cage on top of everything else. Implants are silicon, 305 cc. Thanks.
Answer: Concave ribs Hello, thank you for your question! I am really sorry to hear that you have been feeling uncomfortable with your implants. It is totally understandable that you'd want to take your time in making a decision about removal, especially when you're considering the potential effects on your body. Please see the attached video that answers your question specifically. If you are considering implant removal but feel unsure about the potential consequences, a surgeon with experience in implant removal can guide you through the process and provide you with realistic expectations for recovery and outcomes. It is perfectly valid to take your time and only move forward when you are feeling completely ready. It is important to prioritize your health and well-being, and I wish you the best in making the decision that's right for you.

Answer: At what point do concave ribs happen? Implant deformity on the ribs is seen many, many years after. More than the rib issue I would be concerned about the void left behind after implant removal. There are many women who have removed their implant but with the years the breast tissue has grown. Many of these patients will require a lift and implant removal. If the patient has sufficient breast/fat tissue then a suitable breast mound can be created without the use of an additional implant. Good luck, Dr. PG

Answer: Implant removal It is unlikely that your ribs will change with the size implants you have. However, the longer you keep your implants, the more the skin will stretch. So when you remove your implants, you may want to have a tighter breast lift to avoid any sagging that might otherwise occur. Also, you could choose to have a smaller implant which may give you some of the fullness that you wanted to change in the beginning without feeling so large. Talk to your surgeon about your concerns so he/she can help guide you through this process. Best of luck.
