Swelling after Sculptra. What can I do about this puffiness?

I had 2 viles of sculptra on Monday not much swelling just tenderness so decided by Sunday to put a (pulsating clay) mask next day face really swollen/distorted ..told to take Claritin I'm scared this is permanent even putting ice - Is it normal to be very puffy and really swollen over a week later or could I have caused permanent damage my face looks disfigured it's soo puffy .. when/what can I do about this puffiness I'm anxiety ridden and really scared ...almost regretting gettting sculptura

I have been treating patients with Sculptra for many years and have never seen anyone get swelling that began a week after the treatment.  I would think that your swelling is most likely due to the clay mask that you did the day before your swelling began.  The swelling should resolve with more time.  You will not begin to see any results from the Sculptra treatment until a month or two after the procedure.

Sculptra takes many weeks to cause any volume increase.  See your treating physician right away for advice.  Don't do anything else without sound medical advice from someone who sees you up close.

Swelling will take 1-2 weeks to resolve.  You can get RF treatments like venus legacy or thermi 250 to give improvement. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

It sounds like the puffiness you have experienced is due to the clay mask and not the Sculptra. I would avoid using this mask in the future and the swelling should go down with time. However, some patients may experience swelling after their treatment with Sculptra. This should subside within two weeks with an experience injector. Best of luck.

The swelling is most likely related to the mask and not the Sculptra. I would discuss with your physician and consider antihistamines, possibly steroids. Don't worry, this should not cause a permanent problem.

Sculptra is a great product and the results won't be noticeable for at least a month after the injections.  Since the swelling happened after the mask and a week after the Sculptra it seems that the mask is the reason for the swelling.  The swelling should resolve over time and not affect the results of your injections. I would return to your treating physician for examination to see what the best treatment is for your swelling.  Best, Dr. Green

Usually facial swelling clears within one week after Sculptra injection.  Mild topical corticosteroids under tap water wet dressings would reduce any inflammatory reaction you may be experiencing if you are experiencing contact dermatitis from your clay mask which probably complicated you early healing course.

over 1 week post the injections very unusual. Best to return to the injecting doctor to be examined. In might start you on Rx of steroid pills but only in person examination would be best.
