Can septal extension graft (rib) be removed after revision rhinoplasty?

Question

Can a septal extension graft be removed and nasal length restored to pre revision length? I don't like the aesthetic outcome and I can't move my nose (e.g scrunch it up) which causes problems when I smile, creating a crease above my upper lip. If this graft is removed will my nose tip be able to move again?

Hi,First of all if you already had a rib graft that means you don't have enough cartilage reserve inside. That also means removal of extension graft may lead to deprojection and even collapse of the nose.Instead, as plastic surgeons even if we don't like tertiary or subsequent surgeries as they cause additional trauma/damage to your tissues, I would advise reshaping or repositioning the graft securing the strut effect.On the other hand if your surgeon abstain from touching the nose again it's probably a good idea to listen to him. After all he knows the final state of the tissues better than anybody else.My best

Not sure if at this time you wish to have your caudal septal extension graft removed as it is providing tip support that is unsurpassed.  The tip however can be repositioned, including being set back or whatever else you desire.  I suggest you consider this.
