Numbness after botox between nose and lips. What's causing this?

I had botox in my face 6 days ago, to points between my nose and upper lip. After 2 days I began to feel only that atea over my upper lip numb, will that go away? What is the reason? The rest of face seems so far ok. I have never had this reaction before.please help. Than you

Thank you for your question. This is not a common reaction to Botox. I would recommend that you revisit with your injector who can further examine you.

Sensation to the upper lip is supplied by the V2 branch of the trigeminal nerve. If this nerve was damaged in any way by the Botox injection ( and this would be highly unlikely), then numbness could be the result. So it would not be from the Botox, but from the needle itself. I would suggest seeing a Neurologist very soon. If there is nerve damage, the longer you wait, the less likely normal function can be restored.           jlr        jlr

Botox should not have any effect on sensation.  Maybe something else was done at the same time that could be affecting this

Thanks for your question. Botox only has an effect on nerves that control movement and not those nerves that control feeling and sensation.  So it does not cause numbness.  I will say that sometimes when a patient has an area that won't move because it has been treated with Botox, they perceive it to be "numb"; perhaps this is what is happening in your case.  I suggest you discuss this with your physician injector. Good luck!

Nor have I. Since BOTOX or any botulism toxins effect motor nerve end plates not the sensory nerves.
