I had a open rhinoplasty to straighten my nose and remove my dorsal hump. I'm POD19 & when I wake up in the morning my nose is swollen & short & upturned exactly like it was at POD7/8 but after 1pm it starts to settle down, not as much as I would like it too but enough for it to look different from the morning. It's so stressfull. What can I do before or after I sleep to control this? And speed up my recovery?

Answer: How to reduce morning swelling after rhinoplasty Swelling after rhinoplasty is very normal and the fluctuations that you are talking about are common. The easiest thing for your to do is to sleep on an extra pillow at night. This will elevate your head so that the swelling can drain to the more dependent areas and be less noticeable. This should resolve with time and patience.

Answer: Morning swelling after Rhinoplasty. Any suggestions? Seems you are having multiple hearing and appearance issues. Best to have very close follow up with your chosen surgeon. Or seek in person PAID second opinions. Only after an in person examination can recommendations be offered...

Answer: Morning swelling This is normal. The fluids in your body shift when lying down. Your eyes are more swollen and your ankles less swollen in the mornings because of this and your eyes look better and ankles worse later in the day because the fluids have been pulled "down" due to gravity. Because you still have inflammation of the tissue of your nose for many months you may notice this more there. One option is to do "nighttime taping" similar to the tapes you may have had on your nose after surgery. Applied at night and removed in the morning, this can help control this cycled swelling. Ask your surgeon if they recommend this. If so, they can show you how.
