Can I have a BBL if I have illegal butt injections, but never had any problems with my injections? Advice? (photo)

Thank you for your question.There are multiple kinds of non FDA approved injections. The safety of fat transfer will depend on the kind of injections you had and also local tissue reaction. Foreign material in the graft bed does lessen the chance of fat survival due to the scarring and material itself which has no intrinsic blood supply.  In addition, there is theoretically higher chance of infection again due to the foreign material.  Your buttock aesthetics are good and honestly do not need to chase this.  Furthermore, gaining weight simply for a BBL is not smart.  Just my humble opinion.....

Thank you for the question and photo.  Performing buttock fat transfer should be safe.  Because of the foreign substance and scar tissue associated with it, the percentage of fat graft survival may be lower than if you had not had the previous buttock injections.  I don't think your risk of infection would be significantly increased because of the prior injections.Good luck with your BBL.Dr. Remus Repta

The basic concepts of concern have been well dressed. The foreign substance will not allow grafted fat to get revascularized leading to a higher percentage of graft loss.  Depending on what percentage of your total gluteal volume is filler versus your own tissue would help determine the success rate of a fat transfer. As well, should you be contamination in an infection foreign substance will get contaminated which can lead to a catastrophic situation. Because the previously placed fillers are diffusely placed throughout your buttocks bacteria can travel along the surfaces of the previously placed fillers. If the picture posted is of your own butt then adding volume with the Brazilian it’s perhaps not the best choice.
