I have a mommy make over tomorrow. Yesterday I accidentally took 2 excedrin pills, which have aspirin. I have not taken aspirin before that, ever, or any ibuprofen for the past 30 days. Would that be a problem? My blood is thick but not enough to take blood thinners.

Answer: Would a dose of aspirin close to surgery be a problem? STOPPING all sources of Aspirin or other Pain medicine or Cold Preparations 10 days before surgery is typically recommended. Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen, and Pepto-Bismol all contain agents that will thin your blood and cause surgical complications. Trust that your Mommy Makeover proceeded without any complications as the result of you accidentally taking the two Excedrin.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
