To make an assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure, we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. Ideally, if you’ve had more than one operation, we should see before and after pictures of each of your previous procedures. If you don’t have a set of proper before, and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. There could be a number of reasons why your breast looks the way it does. Most likely it has to do with remaining tissue that’s part of your capsule from the old smaller implant. Using excessively large implants will always increase the chance of undesirable side effects, complications and need for revision surgery. Without having more information, we can’t really give you any quality assessment. If you want proper second opinion consultation, then schedule that as an in person consultation with other plastic surgeons in your community. For second opinion consultations come prepared bringing with you a complete set of proper before and after pictures and copies of your previous operative reports. These are all available from your previous provider if you request them. The new surgeon needs to understand exactly what was done during surgery in order to understand your outcome. This requires them having access to the operative report and as I mentioned proper before and after pictures. Either follow up with your provider or schedule in person second opinion consultations with plastic surgeons in your community. I generally recommend people avoid virtual consultations whenever possible. Your situation is far too complex to give you a quality recommendation based on the limited information provided. The choice of implants may have a part in problems with your outcome. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
