Is Radiesse supposed to feel firm?

I had Radiesse in the past twice and both times, I felt my cheeks very firm. Three days ago I received Radiesse again but this time feels soft. I'm confused and wonder what was injected.

Radiesse is an FDA-Approved filler that we use very frequently in our office to sculpt the contours of the face. Since we are a national center of excellence for filler reversal, we also encounter patients from other doctors' offices who wish to have Radiesse fillers removed for one reason or another. In our office, we employ a directed technique to visualize the filler material, if possible on ultrasound, and then use non-surgical methods to dissolve the filler or granuloma tissue using intralesional injections. There are many methods using a combination of enzymes, intralesional modulators of scar tissue, and Kenalog to help reduce volume and remaining filler. These techniques require meticulous attention to detail and can be performed at intervals of two to three weeks to achieve longterm effect.

Fillers can cause inflammation and sometimes radiesse can be felt after injection.  I suggest you wait 2 weeks and if you still feel pain or swelling consider going to an expert for an evaluation.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I would say in most cases, Radiesse does feel firm for a few days after it is injected.  After this time, it gets incorporated into the tissue and becomes softer.  The depth of injection and mixing the Radiesse with an anesthetic could influence how firm it feels.  I do not know if there was any difference in the Radiesse treatments that you had.

Thank you for your question. Radiesse can feel a firm depending on the area it was injected, however the swelling and firmness to the touch should minimize over time. Please follow up with your provider for additional concerns.

can feel firm or soft depending on where it’s injected and how much is
injected. It’s possible that this time, less was injected in that area. If you
don’t see the results you like, follow up with your physician with this
concern. In the future you can always ask to view the syringe and the box to
ensure what filler they are using.

firm- if too much is injected in one spot- usually temporary, but firmness may persist beyond a month or two or be permanent firm- if a hematoma or bleeding beneath the skin develops where Radiesse is injected- usually temporaryfirm- temporarily, if localized swelling or inflammation developsoft- if Radiesse is fanned out over a larger surface area or if less is used to treat one individual area.So as you can see- Radiesse can be soft or firm.  Depends how much was injected, how diluted it was... and if you are not sure Radiesse was used- ask your injector to see the syringe..... and the box it came in.  Before they inject you with any substance.Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you for your question. If not diluted, radiesse when injected on top of the bone - as in the cheeks, temples, or lower face (near the chin) - can definitely feel firm. If injected in other areas, it's usually injected a little more superficially and can feel less firm. Also, most practices are diluting it with lidocaine, and this can make the product feel less firm. Regardless, if you have any questions or concerns, the best thing to do is to have a discussion with your injector and make sure that the correct product was used. Best of luck!
