Are black eyes and very sharp pains normal after my lipoma removal? (Photo)

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  As a result of blood tracking down the face after a procedure it is possible to see progression of a bruise to the eyes after a forehead lipoma removal.  Much of this should have resolved by 5 weeks, however, as should your pain.  I would check in with your surgeon to ensure no other issues are taking place.  

From your photo you seem to be having a normal recovery with expected bruising and swelling. That being said, only your surgeon, with an in-person exam, can properly comment if you are healing correctly. It is not unusual to have some tingling or occasional nerve type pain as the area heals, but significant pain is not common in my patients after this procedure. I have removed many forehead lipomas in my career. Please discuss with your surgeon!Damon B. Chandler, MD
