I’ve done so much research and aware of the risk in the future. I’m wondering once i undergo this implants, will it change my total health or create unnecessary illnesses or side effects? I’m 39 years old and wondering I’m too old to do the surgery. For most of the women who did it, I’m wondering are they glad they did it or regretted it. Hence, I’m at this point that I wish to do it but none of my close friends and family agree it. So does it mean it’s not beneficial for me?

Answer: Implants safety Dear HyeMee,There have been numerous studies on the safety and efficacy of silicone breast implants. The FDA has approved them to be safe and breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the United States every year. Implants are much different than they used to be with rigorous testing and cohesive gel. I can't tell you how happy my breast augmentation patients have been with their implants. I would recommend a consult with a plastic surgeon to go over all of your concerns. Saline implants are also a perfectly good option if you are still concerned and are less expensive.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: #breastimplant Hi HyeYou have virtually no breast tissue and a veey masculine looking chest and as such you will gain a lot of confidence and satisfaction with a breast augmentation. It is a very safe procedure with a minimal risk profile and high patient satisfaction rates. You should definitely have a consultation to discuss the look you are trying to achieve. RegardsDamien

Answer: Candidacy for breast augmentation Hi and welcome to our forum! The decision to proceed with breast augmentation should not be taken lightly. The risks and complications must be thoroughly understood. However, you shouldn't let the figures scare you. For example, the lifetime risk of death from a motor vehicle accident is 1 out of 583, and yet one is not afraid to drive. You are 510 times more likely to die of a motor vehicle accident than from breast augmentation. Yes, there are potential complications of unnatural firmness, implant deflation, infection, bleeding, anesthesia, scarring, etc...These complications occasionally occur but usually can be treated successfully. Idiosyncratic hypersensitivity reaction to the implant is extremely rare. The benefits of the surgery include a better clothing fit and an improved self image. Age is not a factor...general overall health is...The decision to proceed with surgery is up to you and you alone. Don't let others influence your decision. The overwhelming majority of individuals who undergo the procedure are extremely pleased with the operative result. Seek the advice of a board certified plastic surgeon.Best wishes...

Answer: Breast augmentation, 32A Hello and thank you for your question. This surgery is very common for your age. You are a great candidate for a breast augmentation. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. This entire surgery can be performed with a small incision technique. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
