Spock eyebrows after first time using Botox - when will it correct? Don't tell me 3-4 months.

Thank you for sharing your concerns about your recent treatment. I am so sorry to hear that this happened. While it is true that Botox lasts for 3-4 months, the effects of Botox will certainly begin to wear off much sooner. In the meantime, you may want to follow up with your injector to see if any additional injections can be done to lower the peaking of the brows. Regardless, be sure your provider knows that your results are not ideal. He/she may be able to adjust the injection locations in order to get a better result. Best, Dr. Kian

The short answer is that about 2-3 units in each of the lateral or furtherest aspect above your eyebrows on either side will typically correct the issue. That being said, I would wait about two weeks to make sure the rest of the botox takes effect and that you may not need any additional Botox.

Although it generally takes about 2 weeks to call the injection a result, the "spock eyebrows" have a specific cause.  Inadequate injection of the frontalis muscle in the lower lateral brow region leads to a relative hyperactivity of this region of muscle and a strange look. A few units on each side will usually take care of this problem.  However, I would wait at least another week before having it touched up. 

Keep in mind, it will take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Botox results will gradually resolve in 3-4 months. If you're unhappy with your final results, venus legacy treatments will soften results. Best, Dr. Emer

Some patients will experience "Spock brows" after forehead Botox. This is simply because too much of the middle part of the forehead is treated, and not enough of the outer part of the forehead is relaxed. This allows the outer part to the lift the brows while the middle part can't, resulting in the slanted "Spock brows". Botox does not "drop" a brow. All that needs to be done is the application of additional Botox to the outer part of the forehead that is lifting the outer brow. This should take effect within a week and the brow should look normal. It will limit your ability to raise the brows, but the "Spock brows" should be gone. This can happen in certain brows.  Typically the full effects of botox are seen by 10 days, but it looks like you are there.  Sometimes, adjustments can be made.  The results will last for 4 months, but if you overly animate the face, the product can come out faster.  I hope this helps.

Botox starts to take effect about 48 hours post injection, and it's ultimate result can take up to 2 weeks.  In the event there's a Spock eyebrow on one or both sides, this can be easily corrected with a few touch up units of Botox to the lateral forehead muscles on the affected side(s).  Your original injector should be able to do this for you.

Often, patients develop the "spock" like appearance to the brow when the Botox isn't injected far enough laterally.  I would recommend a follow up visit with your injector.  This concern is typically easily corrected with a few injections of Botox.  Most providers are happy to do a touch up injection free of charge to help a patient achieve the best result.

You may want to return to your injector for a touch up on the outer part of your brows to correct the exaggerated look.  The number of units administered in your treatment is a low amount to treat the areas you mentioned.  Generally the product is in full effect two weeks after treatment and will wear off gradually over the next 3-4 months.
