What are the success rates of getting reasonably symmetrical eyes? (Photo)

I was born with Ptosis, i'm finally doing something about it and can't wait, I have to wait 9 weeks until i can see a specialist, my optometerist didn't fill me with confidence when i asked him for the referral. What are the success rates of getting reasonably symmetrical eyes?

Your success rate will depend on who does the surgery, and how your muscles function.  With some congenital ptosis, the muscle is fibrotic and doesn't work well.  Therefore a surgery has to be done to connect the lid to the brow to help open it.  This works well, but makes blinking and closure difficult.  If you have good muscle function it is pretty straight forward and you should expect a good result.  See an oculoplastic surgeon to help evaluate the muscle function.

Helloi am  happy for you that you want to take care of your ptosis.  The surgical success varies from surgeon to surgeon and their specific technique And surgical approach. 95% of ptosis surgery are happy with their results, which is a great number!!  Congenital ptosis is different than what older people get, and the surgery depends on how well you eyelid muscle works or doesn't. I highly recommend you see an ASOPRS fellowship trained oculoplastics surgeon that performs this surgery on a regular basis. I hope this information is helpful. Dr Victoria
