Got filler in glabella region, now worried about necrosis. What are the chances of this happening?

Hi, i recently had a dermal filler applied inside a indented surgical scar right between my eyes in the glabella region. It's been around 6 hours since the injection and so far everything feels fine, however i've heard that necrosis can occur and is common around the region i got the filler injected in.  Should i be worried? My anxiety is going into overdrive, any advice would be appreciated.

Vascular occlusion is possible due to a filler injection, and it can lead to necrosis.  This is a very rare complication though.  If vascular occlusion occurs from a filler injection, this normally happens at the time of injection and not hours later.  If everything looks fine 6 hours after the filler injection to your glabella, you should not have any problem.

There is nothing for you to worry about. If you were going to suffer from this very rare complication then you would already have pain and visible skin changes by 6 hours.
You are correct that the glabellar region is a high risk area but it sounds like you have nothing to worry about. I hope you are pleased with your results.

Hi,There are many early signs of vascular compromise and necrosis is the end result of such events. The earliest signs include pain (much more significant than a typical injection), immediate blanching of the skin near the injection sight and mottling of the skin. Later signs can include a duskiness to the skin, loss of sensation in the area that was injected (there is lidocaine in fillers so this would be several hours after treatment) and late signs are dead, necrotic skin. There is no need to panic, if you have any concerns you can follow up with your provider.Best,

Hi, Thanks for your inquiry.  Necrosis, unfortunately, is a complication from filler but not a very common complication.  Necrosis normally shows up within a few hours to a couple of days but if any changes are noticed you should return to your injectors office immediately.  Good Luck and enjoy your new filler!!!
