Why are eye fillers for tear troughs so much more expensive than fillers used for other areas on the face?

There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will be the best long term unless you have just hollows without bags.   Fillers in my practice are priced per syringe and no different in areas treated. Best, Dr. Emer.

I do not charge any different based on where the filler is going.  Other physicians may have different pricing structures depending on the time it takes to to a procedure.  I'm not sure why it would cost any more.

Under eye fillers can sometimes be more expensive than other areas of the face because this is a very delicate area that requires a high level of expertise to achieve good results. We use a delicate cannula technique to layer small amounts of filler into the tear trough to correct this depression. Too much filler can give you bulging and fullness which is just replaces one problem for another. Even when the right amount of filler is placed swelling can still be excessive requiring a second injection of hyaluronidase to dissolve some of the filler to achieve the desired contour. So for all these reasons the price point for under eye fillers may be higher than other areas of the face.
