Dear Dr's, I'm just wondering if there's much of a difference between high and ultra high profile? There's so many questions asked about the difference between mod plus and high profiles, but not much regards the difference between high and ultra high. If there is how much difference? And is ultra high a lot more of a 'fake' look compared to the high? Thanks for taking the time to answer :)
Answer: Difference between high and ultra high profile? Thank you for the question. The differences in the breast implants that you mentioned relate to the specific dimensions, such as breast implant height and width. In my practice, I tend to utilize the ultra high profile silicone gel breast implants when patients have a relatively narrow breast width and/or are looking to achieve a lot of projection (generally considered a less "natural look").Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of know words such as “natural” or "C or D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers. I hope this (and the attached link, dedicated to breast augmentation surgery concerns) helps. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Answer: Implant profile The difference between high and ultra high profile refers to the projection. At a specific width, one will be "taller" than the other. This will change the overall look when inside the body. Many surgeons have sample implants you can "try on" to give you an idea of how you'll look after surgery. I encourage you to speak with your surgeon about your aesthetic goals from this procedure. Together you can find the right implant for you. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Difference between high and ultra high profile? Hi and thank you for your question! There are many choices for implant shapes and projection, and it can be very confusing for patient and surgeon alike. Most patients will do very well with high profile implants. In most cases, it gives the right amount of projection, resulting in a fairly natural look eventually. For patients that desire a more projected look, and for some secondary augmentation cases, ultra high profile can be beneficial. Bear in mind that the difference between the high profile and ultra high profile implants is actually fairly subtle. Among different breast implant profiles the number of cc’s will not be the same, as to maintain the same width, a higher profile implant will be a greater number of cc’s as it has more projection. Best of luck.

Answer: High Versus Ultra High Profile Implant Thanks for the question. Silicone implants come in set dimensions. As you move from moderate to moderate plus to high to ultra high, the implants become narrower and more projected (think of moving from a wide pancake shape toward a narrow cone shape). The choice of implant type and volume obviously depends on many factors. In general, a patient with a narrower chest who wants significant volume will fall more toward the high/ultra high spectrum. Higher volume implants in general may lead to a more unnatural look. This is especially pronounced with high and ultra high profile high volume implants. These are clearly very general characterizations. To see where you might fall in this discussion requires a thorough discussion of your goals and a physical examination by an experienced plastic surgeon. Hope this information is helpful!

Answer: Difference between high and ultra high profile? Thank you for your question. The differences between the high profile and ultra high profile is the dimension and projection. It is basically the same differences as the moderate plus and high profile. However, the ultra high profile is more narrow in dimension then the high profile, and has more projection then the high profile. Ultra high profile implant are typically used when you are trying to get more volume when you have a narrow chest, this expands your options in sizes. Because the ultra high implant have the high projection then the other implant profiles, it can be more "fake" looking then the high profile, it just really depends on your body. Answer: Ultra = Fake look Hi. Most surgeons use the base width of the breast to choose the correct width of implants and then depending on the volume that you want depends on the projection. Moderate and moderate + are the most common. Ultra high basically means it is the biggest implant your breast will take without going too far out to the side and will give a very fake look. I would not recommend it. RegardsDamien
