I received butt implants over a year ago. The Dr is triple board certified and teaches the procedure nationally. He said they are intramuscular and the the right implant needed a slight trimming. He literally cut the implant in half to form a half circle. It's constantly flipping. It's also deformed looking when i tighten my muscle. Why would a dr ever use half an implant? I'm afraid to go back to him. Seems very wrong and very negligent!! The implant is literally shaped like a taco. What should I do?
Answer: My Recomendation Dear Bright39175, thank you for your question, before anything it would be good to see some pictures to evaluate your case. I also categorically suggest getting in touch with your surgeon or his team and let him know your concerns. Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best of lucks. Dr. Luis Mejia.

Answer: 1/2 butt implant…deformed looking Allow me to answer your question as best i can without any photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. Believe it or not, just because a doctor is board certified, even “triple board certified”, that does not mean they know how to perform buttock implants correctly. The fact is, over 99% of board certified plastic surgeons, have no experience in the sub-specialization of buttock implant surgery. Furthermore, if I had an extra dollar for every time a patient came to me telling me their surgeon placed the implants “intramuscular”, but in actuality they were not placed 100% intramuscular, I could be retired by now. Lastly, if in fact your implant was literally cut in half to fit, that is a bit unusual because the normal protocol would be to simply use a smaller sized and shaped implant that fits properly. Bottom line, it sounds as though you are not enjoying or satisfied with the end result. Therefore, I would strongly consider getting a second opinion (preferably in person, but at least virtual to start with). As alluded to already, there are an extremely few number of plastic surgeons that truly specialize in buttock implants so you may need to travel far away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. Glad to be of help.

Answer: Deformed Butt Implant Hi- Thanks for your inquiry. The best way to see the shape or integrity of the buttock implant is to get an MRI. This will clarify/answer a few of your questions or concerns. Based on the imaging results you can either chose to go see your original surgeon (which it seems like you are hesitant to do) or seek consultation with another board certified plastic surgeon to see what options are available. Hope this helps!Dr. Dev

Answer: Half of a Butt Implant??? I have been doing butt implants for almost 30 years and have never heard of such a thing. And, I cannot come up with any reason that would lead someone to using half an implant. Did you have some sort of strange deformity or defect that needed to be filled in? So, you have half an implant on the Left and Half on your right? Was your right cheek significantly larger than your left? If I were you, I would definitely discuss this with your current surgeon. See if there is a reasonable explanation and see what he offers. Good luck to you
