My age is 74. I am considering having a deep plane lift as opposed to mid face lift. I had a mid face lift 10 years ago and did not see much difference. A couple of years later, still had to go for injection of my nasolabial lines. I have pockets of fat loss in my cheeks which bother me. Does the deep plane lift address this problem? I want to reposition the fat so that i have a leaner face.

Answer: Deep plane facelift... It can be hard to answer the question without photos, but if you have significant fat loss, then you will probably need fat transfer at the same time as the deep plane facelift. The combination does a great job of restoring a more youthful, but natural appearance. Be sure to see a facial specialist for consultation.

Answer: Deep Plane Facelift at Age 74 Hello, hope you are well. It would be great if you could provide photos so that we can give you concrete advice about the what would be best for you. A deep plane facelift does not add anything to you face, but it does reposition superficial fat compartments that have descended into a more youthful configuration. Part of aging is volume loss--not just adipose tissue (fat), but also bony structure. The cheek bones demineralize resulting in retrusion, similar to the process of osteoporosis that affects the rest of the skeleton. Sometimes fat transfer and cheek and chin implants are recommended alongside the deep plane lift to address both the soft tissue and bony aging changes. Good luck! Best, Dr. Tower
