Hard lumps under skin after Juvederm injection (Photo)

Question

I had my first Juvederm injection two days ago in the nasolabial lines and in my upper lip. My lip swelled pretty badly but has settled considerably. I also felt some lumps in the area which have settled. But I am also feeling lumps in the nasolabial area as well and they have not gone down. In the attached picture you can see the skin raised next to my mouth. Is this a normal part of the healing process or should I contact my doctor?

Lumps can often be part of the side effects of Juvederm. It will most likely go away on its own. If not a reversal agent can be used.

Yes, this can be typical after fillers. It can take 1-2 weeks for final results. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

There can be some swelling and/or lumps after injections which can last 1-2 weeks.  If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

This soon after your injection it is tough to tell.  Some firmness and swelling is normal in the first few days after an injection.  If you think it is noticeable or uncomfortable, have you doctor check and see if the areas need to be massaged out.

It it is perfectly normal to feel some lumpiness under the skin after a treatment. As long as you don't see them on the surface it is okay and well accepted. Filler is after all like a lump that fills the hollow. The lumps May however become softer or completely disappear, my yet you should retain the filler effect. Good luck from New York City
