How long will my breasts stay perky with implants?

Nothing is forever. Your breasts will change with time. Many factors determine how they will change, including your age at augmentation, wether or not you have children, large weight gains or losses, are just a few. Genetic factors also play a role in terms of skin elasticity, etc. Most patients that have augmentation will have other surgeries on their breasts at some point in their life.

As
we all know, the force of gravity acts on breast tissue over time results in
shape change and descent.  The weight of
an implant will accelerate the degenerative process.  The larger the implant the sooner and further
the degeneration.  For this reason, I
recommend patients get the smallest implant possible to achieve their desired

The longevity of result is difficult to predict. While the implants are unlikely to change significantly over time, your tissues will. As we age there a number of changes in skin quality and elasticity. This can be further influenced by pregnancy/breastfeeding and overall weight changes.The bast way to ensure a lasting result is to achieve a healthy and stable weight pre-op and maintain post operatively.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  This answer depends on your breast anatomy and degree of ptosis or sagging before surgery.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Thats a really difficult question to answer without knowing more information about when your procedure took place. In general, a breast lift makes breasts perky and implants make them fuller. Implants tend to sit high at first then drop and fluff into their final location usually within 3-6 months. Once there they'll be subject to the same forces that natural breasts are - gravity, changes with age, pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause. It's really impossible to predict how long they will stay looking exactly as they are now because there are so many variables. Hope that helps! 

The two main reasons breasts might change and become less perky would be significant weight change or the milk of pregnancy. After pregnancy, breasts might stay the same, be bigger, smaller, or droopier. This is a great question but difficult to answer.  There are many factors that can alter how breasts “age” over time.  Your genetics, weight changes, pregnancies and hormone changes are just some of the factors that can affect women’s breasts.  Having breast implants will help retain fullness in your breasts over time but how “perky” they stay will depend upon you.  Thanks for the question and enjoy your breast surgery results!

It is hard to predict the answer to your question because there are so many variables to determine that answer including ( your tissue quality, the size of your implants, weight fluctuation, pregnancy,etc..)

The perkiness of your breasts can be influenced by implants to a small degree. Implants do not lift the breast as much as push them forward. If you are perky now, implants will keep you so. The larger the implant, the more your skin must stretch to accommodate. Over time, the skin will continue to stretch so be careful in choosing. Trust a doctor that did a Plastic Surgery Residency and is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. There are multiple doctors that practice "Cosmetic Surgery" that have no formal training in Plastic Surgery. Beware!

Breast implants will make your breasts fuller, but may not make them perky unless you are perky now or, a lift is done. If you choose very large implants, they may slowly sag over time due to the weight.
