How long will my breasts stay perky with implants?

Nothing is forever. Your breasts will change with time. Many factors determine how they will change, including your age at augmentation, wether or not you have children, large weight gains or losses, are just a few. Genetic factors also play a role in terms of skin elasticity, etc. Most patients that have augmentation will have other surgeries on their breasts at some point in their life.

As
we all know, the force of gravity acts on breast tissue over time results in
shape change and descent.  The weight of
an implant will accelerate the degenerative process.  The larger the implant the sooner and further
the degeneration.  For this reason, I
recommend patients get the smallest implant possible to achieve their desired

The longevity of result is difficult to predict. While the implants are unlikely to change significantly over time, your tissues will. As we age there a number of changes in skin quality and elasticity. This can be further influenced by pregnancy/breastfeeding and overall weight changes.The bast way to ensure a lasting result is to achieve a healthy and stable weight pre-op and maintain post operatively.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
