Thank you for your question! As long as you are medically evaluated and cleared to have surgery by your primary care physician or overseeing provider, it is ok to have surgery. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon who can gather your medical history information and create a personalized plan for you. Best of luck!
Dear Bright3211,Thank you for your question. Hyperthyroidism alone is not a contraindication to surgery. You should undergo a medical evaluation before any surgery requiring anesthesia. Good luck,Nirmal R. Nathan, M.D.Certified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic Surgeons
If thyroid function has been normalized, liposuction can be performed. The physician who is treating you for your hyperthyroidism will be required to clear you for surgery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Bright3211I appreciate your concern, however as long as your thyroid levels are maintained to within normal limits with the help Of medication, there should be no contraindication to liposuction. However your surgeon most likely it will require medical clearance from your primary care physician or endocrinologist. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon and discuss your medical history in detail. Good luck.
As long as your thyroid levels are normal and you're cleared by your endocrinologist, you should be good getting liposuction. Depending upon how many areas you'd like treated, liposuction can safely be done in the hospital or outpatient surgery center. Sometimes an overnight stay is required when more than 5 liters of fat are removed. Recovery takes 5-7 days and this also depends upon how many areas are treated. Liposuction can be done on the neck, chest, abdomen, love handles, upper back/bra areas, and the thighs.Thank you for your question!Dr. Schreiber, Baltimore plastic surgeon
Dear Bright3211,Thank you for your question. Typically both your surgeon and anesthesiologist want you to be in good health; that would include having your thyroid levels be within the normal range. Ask yur surgeon, and yes he/she will most likely want up to date thyroid levels and medical clearance prior to operating on you. Hope this helps & good luck.James Sheridan, MD
Dear Bright,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Provided you have clearance from your primary care doctor, you can still have liposuction. You may want to look into a body contouring procedure that combines liposuction with laser, radiofrequency (RF), and acoustic therapy to produce the best balance of fat reduction and skin tightening and smoothing for your body type and anatomy. We use a proprietary liposuction technique, combined with Emsculpt to help each patient reach his or her desired result. First off, all devices and instruments used are FDA-approved. We start your treatment with Emsculpt to help strengthen your abdominal muscles, augment your buttocks, and reduce any diastasis or abdominal muscle laxity that you may have. This is particularly important for patients who want convert a “round” abdomen to a “flat” abdomen. Emsculpt has been proven to be able to do this based on peer-reviewed research. We then use Smart / Laser Liposuction or VASER (ultrasound) to reduce dense, fibrous fat, and stimulate collagen formation; Radiofrequency-based skin tightening to maximize skin contraction; and Ultrasound, RF, or subcision (Z Wave, Venus, Cellfina) to treat cellulite, maximize fat reduction, and smooth out any irregularities postop. These procedures are usually performed in the office, with only local anesthesia. Patients go home the same day as surgery, do not need any narcotics postop for pain control, and can return to light exercise and work two days after their procedure. In my practice, we select the appropriate treatment for each patient based on their skin quality, amount of fat and surgical goals. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. Preoperative visualization with Crisalix can simulate what your body will look like after surgery and can help you make your decision. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. Good luck! Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS
Dear MissOrginal, based on your photos, you might be a candidate for a surgery but you have to know that liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. It doesn't help patients to reach goal weight, it is a great option for body contouring. I would suggest you to reach your goal weight prior...
Hello. Great question. At 12 days post op you have yet to see your final results. Swelling is normal. It can take up to six months for all swelling to go down. Keep following your surgeon’s post op instructions.
Hello dear,In general, you are likely a good candidate for a Liposuction if you have adequate fat stores in other areas to harvest for injection into the buttocks, which in your case seems to be quite the perfect case. İt is suggested that patients with a BMI below 30 are eligible for a fat tra...
