I had Microneedling today. The skin pen to be exact. My forehead and under eyes are extremely raw. Almost looks like they could bleed. This reaction is way more severe than a sunburn. I also have the chills, vomiting and ringing in the ears. Has this ever happened? They told me my skin would be normal looking in 24 hour. I had the treatment at 10:30 this morning.

Patients may experience some redness after a Skin Pen treatment.  This should resolve within a day or two.  Sun exposure should be avoided and post treatment protocol should be followed for optimal results.  Since you are experiencing symptoms beyond what is expected I encourage you to contact your provider for an evaluation.

The side effects that you are experiencing, chills,vomitting and ringing of ears, are not normal ones post microneedling. These are most likely sympoms of your cold. As far as the apperrance of the skin, that does look normal in my opinion. It looks to me like she may have been a little more aggresive then discussed though. You will be surprised how quickly the skin will heal in the 1st 24 hrs. In our practice we use a product by Alastin, Skin Nectar which protects and heals the skin in 1/2 the time. It also is very soothing. There are other post care products that can be used to help relieve the discomfort. I would reach out to your healthcare provider for further recommendations.

No - vomiting, chills and ringing in the ears are not normal sequale following microneedling. Systemic infection is unlikely - especially given the time frame. More than likely you have another infection. The best step forward is to call the physician who supervised the microneedling. Symptomatic treatment and reassurance will do wonders. Davin S. Lim.
