Sleeping after breast implants - any suggestions to make this easier for me?

I am getting my implants in about a month. Over everything that I might be nervous about, it’s sleeping that makes me most anxious. I am a stomach and occasional side sleeper. It’s always been how I sleep. I know that I won’t be able to sleep on my stomach for a while. Any suggestions to make this easier for me? Will I ever be able to sleep comfortably on my stomach again or will this forever change the way I have to sleep?

If you are a stomach sleeper, it usually takes about six weeks before you can be comfortable in that position. Although it is sometimes recommended, I see no reason not to sleep on your side immediately after surgery if that's what prefer. At some point, you will be comfortable enough to sleep on your belly and will naturally turn over

Many patients sleep in a recliner for the first few days/weeks. As you become more comfortable with the implants you will find a sleeping position that works for you. Best wishes!

In my practice patients are permitted to sleep in whatever position they wish that is comfortable from the first night on. I recommend to my patient to sleep on their back or sides the first 2-3 weeks and after that, whatever feels comfortable. In my experience, implants become part of your body at about three months post op and you can sleep on your stomach.

After your surgery you will not be able to sleep on your stomach. Sleeping on your back with lots of pillows for support will be the most comfortable.  You will eventually be able to return to sleeping on your stomach once you are fully healed.  Your surgeon will advise when that's okay to do.

Initially you will not be sleeping on the girls. Later you mind find you still can, but may need a pillow to assist. If you learn to sleep well on your sides or back, this will be much better long term for your neck.

Plastic surgeons will generally ask patients to avoid putting excessive pressure on their breast after breast surgery.
This generally means sleeping on your side or on your back.
Each provider will have their own postoperative protocol.
