In my practice, I dissolve all lower eyelid fillers prior to surgery. In terms of technique for lower lid surgery, it has more to do with the surgeon than a specific surgical technique.

The dent is likely due to herniation of one of the lower fat pads into an abnormal position. I would advise that you see a Plastic surgeon with an interest in facial aesthetics for full assessment. Treatment may include temporary filler to camouflage the area or surgery to reposition the fat.
