Botox starts wearing off in 2-3 months, why is this happening?

Whenever i go to my dermatologist her botox not he but his wife who is paediatrician injects botox .she dilutes botox with saline water.they charge area wise. Result wear off too quickly this happens every time .atleast 8 times i have taken botox from them in last 2 years and my age is 30 years

Botox typically lasts about 3 months in most patients. Many patients will have results that last slightly shorter (2 months) or slightly longer (4 months), so Botox lasting 2-3 months is very common. Sometimes slightly higher dosing will result in the effects lasting longer, and each patient is unique with respect to how long the product lasts for them.

Hello and thanks for the question.  There is some variability in terms of duration of effect when it comes to botox. Generally the effects lasts 3-5 months, though some patients will notice it wearing off as soon as 2 months.  It is possible that a higher dose may give you a longer effect, but it may just be that you metabolize the botox faster then the average patient. 
You can consider discussing this issue with your physician and ask for a higher dose to see if it makes a difference.  Hope that helps and good luck

Thank you for your question. Botox lasts typically 2-4 months. The amount injected seems to have an impact on duration. Some patients seem to metabolize it more quickly. While not scientifically proven, many injectors find that the athletes seem to metabolize Botox more rapidly.

There are several factors that can affect the final outcome of your BOTOX® results. Some people find that they see a better result using a similar product, Dysport®. Of course, injector skill and technique also play a large role. Thank you for the detailed question. There are many factors that play into how long botox or other neuromodulators area effective in a patient. One aspect is the dose, larger doses can last longer but it is a delicate balance to not over dose a patient. Charging by area may not allow the provider to personalize the dose of botox to your face and muscle action. I suggest to try another injector. Most patient results last longer. but it also depends on the amount of Botox injected, what area was treated and how fast is your metabolism. Smile lines last around 3 months, frown lines and forehead should last at least 4 months.

The anti wrinkle injections generally last about 4 months but on some patients it may last a bit longer or it may last not as long, as everyone is different. In saying that, the dose may need to be increased, or it may be worth trying a different type of anti wrinkle injection. There are 3 brands on the market-botox, dysport and xeomin. If none of this improves the duration, it may just be you, or you could try a different injector to rule that out as a cause.Good luck

Most of the scientific studies show duration of Botox injections for about 3.5-4 months although we all have patients who might notice wearing off of Botox results earlier. I suggest you try going to a cosmetic dermatologist who does their own injection to see if your duration of the result would improve. Alternatively, some patients find that another neuromodulator that is commonly used, Dysport, might provide a better and longer result in the same injection area.

Botox, Xeomin, and Deport last usually 3-6 months depending upon the location, dosing given, and injection pattern placed.  Generally lasts about 4-6 months in the forehead, and about 3 months in other areas.  It can last longer and give a fuller effect with large doses, but then complications can occur at a higher rate and also cause a potential frozen look.  All wrinkle blockers are mixed with saline to get them from a powder to a injectable liquid form.  If you aren't happy with the results there then try a new injector and/or discuss your results.   I get wrinkle blockers and have for many years.  I have strong muscles, but don't want to look frozen so typically only get 2-3 months of effect, but many of the patients I inject get results up to 4 months for the same areas.  There can be variability from person to person.  I hope this helps.  Best regards.
