Swimming pool 2 weeks after smart lipo.

Question

My daughter has swimming lesson two weeks after my smart lipo to abdomen, flanks, back procedure. It's a baby patent class. Will I be able to get in the pool? Can I leave compression garment on?

The incisions could easily become infected with bacteria in the water and if an infection were to spread into the subcutaneous tissues, the result could be very serious. Chlorine or other standard swimming pool treatments are not a guarantee that the water is free of potential pathogens.

Thanks for your question. As long as your small incisions have completely healed, that should be OK. You will be fine to hold your compression garment for a couple of hours, but would need to get back into it ASAP afterward. Make sure your surgeon is OK with that plan first. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question. It has only been 2 weeks post-treatment, so
I would not recommend going into the pool. You should wait at least 4-6 weeks
to avoid getting your incisions infected. Please consult with your doctor.

You should be fine to get into a pool 2 weeks following surgery but you should check with your surgeon to get his/her blessing.  Regarding the compression garment, this is also a discussion you should have with your surgeon.  In most cases it should be fine to remove the garment for that small time during your daughters swimming lesson.
